When I arrived in Casa Allegre Matti was in the kitchen making Pasta with Pesto:)!! The pasta was soo good! Then Bruno and Nadim and I made the crepes with nutella:)!! Bruno put some chile in one of the crepes and Tara picked that crepe...it was so funny!! She was like "why did they put tomatoe sauce in the crepe" while eating it!! HAHAHAH Mirja, Bruno and I had a good laugh:)! Then at 2 people started going in the pool...but I had to go to continue my working on my spanish presentation!! I also had to study for my math and biology test!! I went to study with Vicky and Mirja in Vickys "natural habitar" (her residence) she has a special desk with ALL her things there, and I htink she spends more time there than in her room! Anyway we studied math there and then Jono jioned us!! Vickys mom arrived later and she started cleaning the whole kitchen it was so funny! She found fungus on the meat and bugs...:s! After about 3 hours of working Mirja and Vicky secretely left to eat sdome nutella and I some them cracking up on vickys bed eating nutella from the jar! So I joined them:)! Then vicky left with her mom and mirja and I continued studying for math until 2 am!! I went to sleep at 3am studying for bio...

On wednesday after classes we went to a fair for canadian universities!! We came back at around 5...and then Mimi and I went o lunch box!! It felt soo good to eat!! I was starving cause I ahd only eaten cookies duringthe whole day!! Ya this week was so unhealthy...I slept late, ate badly..but I got good grades on everyting I worked for..although I kinda did everything in the last minute:s!! Oh well...someday thatll change I hope! But I realised that its not worht missing an activity with ur friends for work cause...in the end u get it done and even though u suffer cause udnt get enough sleep....(btw im talking for myself althou im saing YOU..dsnt work for everyone:s) and u get a good grade.. !
So Ya right now I mtrying to figure out what I have to do before my mom comes tomorrow!!!! I cant wait!! Im telling all my friends shes coming and the more I htink about her the more excited I am!!! The other day befre I went to sleep I started thinking about her all of a sudden..and I remembered EVERYTHING about her...the way she smiles, her smell, the wa she laughs...just minor details about her which makes her so special:)!! And I realised that those moments dnt happen enough for me (thinking about ppl far away from me) and maybe rthats because Im busy with so many other things!!

Tuesday Monring (March 4)

TUESDAY!!
We re already in March, and it scares me because time is passing by so fast!! Last night Mirja and I worked i my room. I was working on my english presentation and Mirja worked on her math. Then I got tired and walked around the campus. I found Tara and Mimi in Flamingo talking about African week. Then Mimi went to get us a coffee, while I ocntinued with my presentation. Everything seemed to be flowing with my work, everything seemed to make sense, and I didn't stop to think for a second, I just read and wrote! I got really interested in the work that I was doing that I no longer really cared on how well I would do on the presentation, but on how much I was learning from the text. Bruno and Yerko passed by window before going to coffee :) and then mimi came back and I drank dark coffee with NO milk! To tell you the truth the coffee had a huge effect on me cause I felt hypr from 9pm to 2 am! I practiced my presenation and then Mimi and I fell asleep in my bed! This morning I didn't go to my economics class because I felt like it would be useless since I owuld probably not be able to focus. So for the first time this semester I missed class. I worked on my presentation a little more and then went to TOK class. Tok was really unteresting, we discussed about finding patterns in social sciences. Theb I did my presentation, and I think that I did quite well in being confident and not showing how nervous I was. Everything just flew...it was perfect.

Asian week!!

Asian Week!!

When we came back from la Selva, Asian week had already started. The food was amazing. We had to eat with chopsticks ,and David would get annoyed because he wanted to eat big chunks of food but he could only get a little into his mouth. So he ended picking at the food with his chopsticks. There was a Chinese movie called Hero on Thursday night, it was really interesting. After the movie we had a discussion with Melody and other students about the Asian Culture. We talked about the behaviours of Asian families in contrast with European families. For example Melody told us that in Asia the wives stay quiet and don't argue back. The discussion ended at around 12 30 but I left earlier. I went for a walk around the Residences and I saw Bruno at his usual place (the stairs bu his residence) listening to FRENCH songs and reading his horoscope. We ended up going around the school and talking until 2am. The next day I decided to stay on campus and not go out. 1. because I had too much home work and 2. because I was "grounded" :s! But those rules about going out are soon going to change. Mirja, David, Nina, Kika, Nikki, and I stayed in Davids room and watched Fight Club. I watched the beginning of it and at 11 I was getting tired so I decided to go to bed! It felt so good to SLEEP!!! I don't think that Ive ever appreciated sleeping so much since I'm here!
So the next morning I woke up for breakfast and I was about to go to sleep again but Mimi insisted I get showered and work with her. Oh ya I forgot on Thursday Vicky's mom came!! Shes sooo nice!!!! We all ate on the grass some really good Asian food:)!! sO YA GOING BACK TO Saturday..I worked with Mirja in my room , and at about 5pm we took a break:)! At night we continued working and Tara came too .Then I talked to Emma in her room until 11pm and I listened to some really nice Norwegian songs with Carl in Montezuma (residence)!! On sunday night Tara and I decided to go eat pizza near the school. We found Vicky and her mom there (they had just come back from the beach). We had a really good crepe with nutella:)! Then we got back to college at 7 30pm to watch the Asian show!! It was awsome!!!! It reminded me of why liked this place so much. All the effort people put in that show, it was incredible. I also got surprised at how talented some people were. Then Tara, Mirja and I went back to my room to work, and at around 12 30 Mirja left to continue on her Englsh presentation which was due today!! Apperently she fell asleep on the couch and missed the first hour of english so she presented on the second our jejeje!!
Today I felt a little bit stressed becasue I realised I had A LOT OF work..and I don't know how I am going to manage...but I guess EVERYTHING WILL BE ALRIGHT:)! After school Nadim, Marce, Tara, Yerko, Kiki, Juanny, Mattia, Mirja, Bruno and I went to Casa Allegre to eat pasta made by Mattia and crepes made by Bruno, Nadim, Tara and I !!! :D they were soo good..I feel so full!! Bruno put some chili in one of the crepes and Tara started eating it until she realised there was something wrong..it was soo funny!!! And now Im sitting at my desk in my room...and Im going to continue my English presentaiton due tomorrow!!!!
Tanya wrote this on facebook after the Asian week and I htought it was interesting:
I am just speechless. Just in awe. This week is one of the BEST weeks here.

I feel so blessed and I feel so deeply now how they say: "I am blessed (by God!) and it can never be changed."
This week is one worth mentioning. (Asian week just ended on a high note with the Asian show that just finished.) I can't help but share.

Everything just pulled together, and I feel so proud because I can say that I can't take credit for all of it. At first, when we began planning the Asian Week (just a little over a month ago) I felt a little down, feeling like I had to take full responsibility for the week and getting things done. I didn't feel like everyone was as enthusiastic or excited about it as I was. But along the way, I got help, and encouragement, and inspiration and love... and God has been amazing. All my little prayers were heard and I am just in awe.

The food we served in the cafeteria was awesome (all us amateur cooks did great! I even cooked ADOBO for dinner one night --> a pleasant surprise: I CAN cook.) All our expenses fit our budget! The cafeteria ladies accomodated us and helped us, and even panicked with all of our new styles of cooking, veggies, recipes, ingredients and more! We had good movies and presentations. Yesterday's BIG ASIAN DINNER was just great! Lots of us cooked (I cooked my favorite dish: Sinigang! By myself!) There was so much food, I had so much fun serving. Again, I was left so thankful!

Not everything went perfect, we didn't get the Asian Children's Games going, nor the photo exhibit we wanted. However, today's show was just awesome! All the dances and presentations were great! Cool poetry in languages we can't understand. And the Romeo Kim and Juliet Li drama in the end. The show was amazing, I don't know what to say. I am so thankful. So so so very thankful. God is good, and that truly cannot be changed.

Tonight I danced three dances representing the Philippines, two improvisations on planting rice and another with the muslim fan style..but the one I think I am most proud of is our version of the Philippine tinikling. I asked God to help us make it perfect and I encouraged myself by remember what Lisa reminded us at Bible study today: that there is no fear in love. And perfect it was. Except for a few snags, we did the choreography all the way through and the adrenalin kept us up until the end. (Videos to be posted soooon!) Not to mention, all the other performances were just beautiful! I enjoyed it so much, not only performing, but seeing others perform and have fun!

Thanks so much to everyone who was a part of this week. It went so well! I am so happy and so glad that we worked for this.

(This week was great: It began with an exploration of Chinese/Asian stores in San Jose with Tita Teresita (I found kangkong, yanyan, puto mix, champorado mix and white rabbit!!), with practices for tinikling every night..then we had Monday holiday, more Asian store shopping, putting up our flags in the Administration area, then the great food the Asians prepared in the cafeteria, then Tuesday: I went to my first ever REAL ROCK CONCERT - IRON MAIDEN IN COSTA RICA (!!!!), EDIT: and Wednesday - I got into Kenyon College, and Thursday - Vlad got into Earlham College, then movies, presentations, the big asian buffet dinner, Girl's Bible study by the football pitch this afternoon and today's awesome awesome awesome ASIAN SHOW! But it's back to reality now, I have to begin studying now for our mock exams for this coming two weeks. I've got an english exam at 7:30 and a math exam a few hours after. HOWEVER, I FEEL JUST AMAZED. Thank YOU Lord.)

Your love is amazing, steady and unchanging
Your love is a mountain, firm beneath my feet
Your love is a mystery, how You gently lift me
When I am surrounded, Your love carries me

Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Your love makes me sing

Your love is surprising, I can feel it rising
All the joy that's growing deep inside of me
Every time I see You, all Your goodness shines through
And I can feel this God song, rising up in me

Then Karina wrote something which caught to my attention:
There was something in the wind that called a lot of people to make this week amazing. I know there is a lot time invested, and a lot of sacrifice (and believe, I was with Tanya Alexander in the indian dance, it was a lot of work (: ...) But why? No explanation available, or at least not a rational one. I mean, look at me. One of the most inactive people in campus. And I was in two dances for this week! What does that mean? (maybe it just means that Tanya prayed too much xD)

Anyways... a lot of orgnization, a lot of commitment, a lot of action. Do you rememberthat our main actress in Romeo Kim and Juliet Li was planning not to come back?. Little magical things around. And my brain is not working properly because of emotions. :)

Well, my dear chicken mate... Congrats. Your lovable!
I thought it was interesting...how we use our time on campus? I realised that each of us can chose to stay in our rooms all day and work to get the best IB grade they can possibly get. And when they leave they will lookl back and be proud of themselves for having made it. Because afterall we are all put on the same pressure of UWC life (btw I think we should get a diploma for being at the UWC) But I realised that I want to leave this place and remember all the good times I have spent here. All the good friends I have made and all the crazy things we ve done. I want to rememebr the reaslly interesting conversations about things I am not completely knowledgebale about. I realised that here people don't jut discuss about parties and boyfriends but about things that really mean soemthing. Things that make you think a lot, and reflect. Things that make you into a different person. Things that MATTER! anyway going back to my question...I htink that we should all participate in this commuity in our own ways. Im just scared that sometimes I am not using my time effectively, and since time is so precious here I cannot allow myself to do that. ANd soemtimes I regret ntot having participated in the shows, because I really do miss singing and dancing. But I guess its because I dedicating my time on different things and its not possible to do eveything!! I really do have some ideas for this school and I want to see that my effort counts for soemthing...!!! Anyway I have never regreted in participating in soemthing to help this school...in the end my work does get done, and I challenge myself into doing more! ...

La Selva Feb 08

La Selva, Costa Rica!! 25 of February 2008
On Monday at 8 am we went to La Selva with all of the bio classes (about 60 students). The night before Mimi, mica, vicky, tara, mattia and I watch peacefule war! It was such a good movie!! And then I had to pack my bag for the next day while Matti mimi anf vicky were lying on my bed and making fun of me! I was wearing Davids pink shirt while I was packing jeje, it looked huge on me but I love it:)! Anyway so in the morning it was hard to wake up because we slept late and mimi wasnt awake at 7 30am which was the time when we had to go, so I woke her up, and while she was taking a shower I went to get breakfast. And la tia shouted at me for taking the breakfast late, but I took 3 pankakes instead of two anyway:)! Tthen I ran back to mimis room and she still wasnt ready...so I rushed her and as she was getting her things ready I fed her pieces of pankakes jeje it was so funny! Then at 8 we ran to the bus and got some places at the back of the bus ! We slept the whole ride it was soo good! I love bus rides, sometimes I wish theyd never end! Then at around 10 we arrived at la Selva and it was raining. The first thing mimi did when she woke up was "what am I doing here?" We both laughed our heads off , and then we saw Nicole (from Uganda) get up from her seat with her hair sticking up....It was so funny and she was so lost she ddnt even get why we were laughing..Awww I love u nicole(k)!!
K os thats the first part of the beginning of my week I ll continue later:)!
